NEW School Council - 2011/12

Now that all class members and their deputies have been chosen, our School Council met on 21st November to discuss several issues.

One of the main topics was about fundraising in order to purchase Adventure Trail activity equipment for our junior playground.  Mrs Bailey explained that it costs a lot of money, which is not in the school budget, so we are running a campaign to raise the funds ourselves.  Each class has designed a trail and chosen the equipment they would like in it.

We are putting some special dates in our school calendar:

On THURSDAY 8th DECEMBER at 3.00 pm - we are holding a Film Afternoon for Years 3, 4, 5 & 6.  Ticket price is £2 per child and this will include a drink and popcorn. Films to be announced soon!

On FRIDAY 20th JANUARY 2012, there is a TOY SALE in school.  Children will be able to visit the Toy Sale throughout the day.

On FRIDAY 3rd FEBRUARY 2012 we are holding a DRESS UP DAY.  We have to speak to our individual classes to find out what dressing up theme is the most popular.

We also talked about what we think of our School Dinners.  We are meeting with a representative from ISS, our catering company, and we will ask her some questions about the colour band system, foods we really like or dislike, what other choices we would like to see on the menu, and our current 'line up' system at lunchtime.

Watch this space for further updates from the next meeting!

School Council meeting - Tuesday 22nd March

At our school council meeting this week we discussed the following issues:

Fairlop's Healthy Tuck Shop:
We are selling so many of the fantastic Nakd Raisins that we just can't get enough from our local shops. We, the school council, wrote to the company who have now agreed to supply us direct from them - so hooray we should have plenty for everybody now!

Red Nose day:
The cakes sold really well at this event - but we just did't seem to make very much money from them!! We think in future the cakes will be sold at a set price.
Thanks to those who purchased our cakes we are always grateful for your donations.

School Dinners
It was mentioned that sometimes when the last children from each year group get to their school dinner they don't have such a great choice of menu. This should soon be made much easier by the dinner company using a wristband system. This will help you to have your first choice and should also reduce the length of the queue.

Please take a look at our slide show below to see who your class councillor and deputy is!
